Rearcross U-11's were on their travels to Ballina for this league fixture against Lough Derg Vikings and plundered a 3-2 victory over the host side. The opening exchanges were evenly shared with Danny Poyzer and Sean Malone getting in clearances for Rearcross while the upright denied the visitors at the other side when Cillian Kennedy's delivery fromt the right was turned on to the post. Rearcross hit the front in the 9th minute when Patrick Dawson linked up with Eoin O'Connell who fired a low effort to the back of the net. Stephen Rochford had a fine outing for the visitors and tracked back to cut out for a corner seconds later. The last four minutes of the half produced a hat-trick of goals, firstly the Rea boys stretched their lead on seventeen minutes when Stephen Rochford was the provider to Patrick Dawson's whose will struck shot was deflected to the net. Lough Derg came storming back in to the tie a minute later when Darragh Moloney took advantage before prodding home from close range. Darragh Moloney was in the action again on the stroke of half time after breaking on the right before rifling a fine effort to the far corner of the net. Rearcrosss were on top for long spells in the second half and came close inside the first effort with a good shot from Patrick Dawson. Cillian Kennedy's free kick from out on the right was met by Patrick Dawson with the headed effort inches wide of the upright. The travelling side got what proved to be the all important goal in the 29th minute when Cathal Kennedy and Cillian Kennedy combined from a corner kick to set up Patrick Dawson who flicked the ball over the line with a deft touch. Lough Derg Vikings piled on the pressure after this, however Rearcross held firm with Colm Lenihan, Cian O'Toole, Billy John Caplis and Andy Kinnane all playing their part to secure the win for the visitors.
